Happy International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia
Possibly in time to celebrate the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia on May 17:
A group of 51 Muslim states has blocked 11 gay and transgender organisations from attending a high-level meeting at the United Nations next month on ending AIDS, sparking a protest by the United States, Canada and the European Union. Egypt wrote to the president of the 193-member General Assembly on behalf of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to object to the participation of the 11 groups. It did not give a reason in the letter, which Reuters has seen.
Ain’t cultural diversity great? While the left is running around the US, telling people where to piss, the rest of the world is pissing all over the left. As you might note from this handy world map, just published by the Geneva-based International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s solution to “ending AIDS” seems to be ending homosexuality. To be fair, this seems to be the case across much of the non-Muslim Africa and south-west Asia too, but that just adds to the rich, diverse mosaic of humanity, ca. 2016, doesn’t it?
