Democratic candidates lead by 15 points in a hypothetical match-up for the 2018 midterm elections, according to a new Fox News poll.

In the survey, 50 percent of respondents said that if the election for Congress were held today, they would vote for the Democratic candidate. Only 35 percent said they would vote for a Republican.

A year ago, the same question showed voters evenly split, with 45 percent saying they would vote for a Democrat, and 45 percent saying they would vote Republican.

A genuine question from a Yankophile Aussie: what do the Congressional Republicans actually do, particularly when they have majorities? Do they enact any conservative agenda or just half-heartedly and ineffectively oppose the Democratic one? What is the point of winning the elections?
