EVERYTHING IS SEXUAL HARASSMENT – Interesting polling, via “Economist” on what is considered to be sexual harassment in five developed countries, broken up by gender and age groups.

Not surprisingly, women tend to be more aware (though the gender gap is generally not very significant), and younger people more less forgiving than the older generation.

The kicker – in the United States, around one third of young people think that complimenting a woman on her attractiveness (if you are not her partner) is always or usually sexual harassment, and just under a quarter of young women think that being asked out for a drink likewise always or usually constitutes sexual harassment.

I’m as glad as the next person that all the gropers, flashers and sleazes in Hollywood and the media are finally being exposed (no pun intended), but please, let us not start penalising being nice and sociable.
