THE CASE OF TOMMY ROBINSON – Something weird is happening in the Great Britain (or country formerly known as Great Britain; you know, the birthplace of liberalism and modern freedom and all that). This much is clear:

Tommy Robinson has been arrested for allegedly breaching the peace outside a court during an ongoing grooming trial.

The far-right activist showed men entering Leeds Crown Court in a livestream on Facebook, where he claimed to be “reporting” on the case.

After more than an hour of broadcasting, footage showed police officers approaching to arrest him for alleged breach of the peace and incitement.

What’s less clear is:

Now the reason why it’s not clear is because apparently the court has placed a gag order the (British) media – because, of course, the British courts don’t have the extraterritorial jurisdiction in this case to gag everyone else (hello, British courts) – reporting on Robinson’s insta-trial and prison sentence (which might also have something to do with Robinson’s already having a suspended sentence over a similar incident last year (lots of Muslim grooming gangs around, you see)).

Now, I don’t have any particular affinity for Robinson, and I take a point about potentially prejudicing these grooming trials –

– but I remain concerned about the circumstances surrounding the arrest/trial/sentencing express steamrolling through the British countryside, not the least the gag order to prevent the reporting of this express. I’m awaiting more information, and I stand to be corrected and reassured, but for now WTF.
