IF I CAN’T DANCE, I DON’T WANT TO BE PART OF YOUR REVOLUTION – So said feminist and anarchist Emma Goldman to the joyless Marxists (actually she had not said that, but she said something close enough). Islamic Revolutionaries are even less fun:
Iran is being internationally slammed for arresting a number of people for posting un-Islamic videos on Instagram — including a teenage girl who posted clips of herself dancing fully-clothed.
The hard-line Islamic country’s state TV channel broadcast a video on Friday in which Maedeh Hojabri, a 19-year-old gymnast, admitted breaking moral norms.
However, she insisted that was not her intention to provoke, and that she was only trying to gain more followers.
“It wasn’t for attracting attention,” she said in the broadcast. “I had some followers and these videos were for them.“I did not have any intention to encourage others doing the same … I didn’t work with a team, I received no training. I only do gymnastics.”
Before 40 years ago, dance were taught in schools in #Iran but after the Islamic revolution 1979 it became a big crime! #MaedehHojabri is a teenage dancer not a criminal & dancing is not a crime.#FreeMaedeh #FreeIran #IranRegimeChange pic.twitter.com/O4dVOonTdQ

It’s a terrible crime that pretty much every young woman in the West (make that pretty much everywhere else in the world) is guilty of. But the Islamic Republic is scared of a 19 year old.
