When ICE came for Anne Frank

The denigration of the memory of the Holocaust continues, courtesy of people who either don’t know history and are therefore stupid or purposefully misinterpret it and are therefore malicious:

A modernized theatrical production of The Diary of Anne Frank in Los Angeles will re-imagine the Jewish Frank family hiding from Nazis with Latino immigrants hiding from Immigration, Customs, and Enforcement (ICE) officials, its directors have revealed.

The production, directed by former Roseanne writer Stan Zimmerman and scheduled to run throughout September, “was inspired by the true story of a Jewish woman in Los Angeles who created a ‘Safe House’ for a Latina mother and her two daughters after her husband was deported by ICE.” The play’s characters in the attic will be played by a LatinX cast, according to a promotional website.

“Director Stan Zimmerman has cast his production of the classic play The Diary of Anne Frank, by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett and newly adapted by Wendy Kesselman,” the play’s promotional content reads.

The Frank family hiding from the Nazis in an Amsterdam attic and a Latino family hiding from ICE in an LA attic are exactly factually and morally parallel and equivalent only if you assume that the Jews were so desperate for a better life and opportunities in Germany or German-controlled lands that they risked illegally crossing into the Reich, and that the Germans were so concerned about the flood of immigrants that they would catch and deport all the illegal Jews beyond their borders – instead of gassing them in Auschwitz. “Artists” and “intellectuals” who can’t see a difference between the extermination of six million men, women and children based on their ethnicity and deporting people who have decided to circumvent the proper immigration process by simply inviting themselves into someone else’s country are moral midgets (no offence to midgets).
