Miss World America – no dogs or conservatives allowed

Seems like Republicans are not welcome in beauty contests anymore:

As News.com.au reports:

Kathy Zhu, 20, a University of Michigan student who has more than 70,000 followers across Instagram and Twitter where she goes by the handle “PoliticalKathy”, is a prominent online conservative and is the vice chair of her campus Republican student group.

Zhu, who was born in China and immigrated to the US when she was five, first gained internet fame during the 2016 election campaign. In 2018 she sparked controversy after posting about a “Try a Hijab” event at the University of Central Florida, and later that year announced she was transferring to Michigan.

Unmentioned in the story is the campaign run by the UCF Muslim students to expel Zhu from the university for her “bigotry” (the university didn’t). Chill everyone, Zhu probably simply didn’t want to culturally appropriate a hijab. But there were other “controversies” that the Michigan Miss World boss was concerned about:

Poor Laurie. He could for example check the FBI stats from 2016, which show that of 2,870 murders of African-Americans that year, 2,570 were perpetrated by other African-Americans. But, yeah, it’s just a comment with no statistics to back up. Also: facts are racist.

Lest anyone argue that “them’s the rules; if you don’t want to get done for bringing the pageant into disrepute you shouldn’t be making any controversial statements in public”, can you tell me with a straight face that Zhu would have been kicked off Miss America if she was a campus Democrat making the “correct” sort of political statements on her social media, for example in favour of abortion, affirmative action, illegal immigration, or an other popular left-wing cause? Do you think that this would be considered “offensive, insensitive and inappropriate content”? Sure, and if you really think so, I’ve got a genuine Miss World America crown to sell you for $5.

It bears to note again that in the new victimhood rankings, Asians are now considered honorary Caucasians, i.e. shit out of luck, despite actually being an ethnic minority – or arguably because of being an ethnic minority that does not fit the usual script that racism and discrimination (and generally simply being an ethnic minority) invariably leads to poor educational, social and economic outcomes. That’s probably the “yellow privilege”.

Sorry Miss Zhu; you might be an immigrant but you seem to have taken too well to America. If only you were more like “the Squad”, you would have a bright future ahead of you.
